Okay… But is it the Worst of the Worst?
AWU’s Sanitary Sewer Structural Score Development

Presenters: Brendan Hamilton/AWU and Michael Mosier/AWU

Arlington Water Utilities has developed a customized asset management scoring system for sanitary sewer pipe assets. This includes the conversion of the standard NASSCO PACP grading system into a score that more accurately prioritizes sanitary sewer assets based on their level of distress. This custom-tailored prioritization reflects the utility's specific replacement goals by better prioritizing the scoring of the most critical failure types. Inspections are analyzed and given a score automatically, which is then pushed to several databases. This 3S scoring program establishes a comprehensive and standardized database to evaluate pipeline conditions and manage pipeline assets. The presentation highlights the limitations of standardized condition grading systems and emphasizes the need for a more custom prioritization system.
