The 2020 UCTA South Texas Chapter Scholarship Program is now closed. Stay tuned for the 2021 Program Announcement! 

UCTA South Texas Chapter will award a total of up to eight (8) scholarships in 2020.  The breakdown will be as follows:  Four (4) scholarships at $1,500 and four (4) at $1000.  Additionally, the top two scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive additional $500 in 2020 with documentation that a 3.0 GPA has been maintained (for undergraduates only).


Applicants must be:
  • Dependent** children of full-time employees of member companies of the UCTA. At least one employee must be a member in good standing (i.e. dues are paid - current) as of the application deadline date and must have attended at least two sponsored meetings during the past 12 months, which can include: regular UCTA general membership meetings, seminars conducted with the University of Houston (CIGMAT) and UCTA, or the UCT conference.
  • Enrolled in full time post-graduate or undergraduate course study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. There are no restrictions for the field of study or degree program.
    **Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted child or stepchild living in the employee's household or primarily supported by the employee.

Selection Criteria: 

The UCTA Board of Directors has reviewed and approved the following selection criteria and procedures to be used in the evaluation of the 2020 Scholarship Applications:

* 20% - Cumulative GPA (based upon a 4.0 grading scale)
* 20% - Classification (Grad or Senior=10; Junior=10; Sophomore=10; Freshman=5)
* 60% - Discussion Paper

About Us

The  purpose of the Underground Construction Technology Association (UCTA) is to promote education; training; research and development; information concerning traditional, trenchless and rehabilitation technology; and to promote the use of these technologies. UCTA serves to advance the science and practice of installing, repairing, maintaining, and replacing utility lines, as well as related facilities through construction and rehabilitation techniques. This also includes municipal water, sewer, wastewater, gas distribution, oil/gas transmission and gathering lines, telephone, electric, and cable systems.
