Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • Dependent* children of full-time employees of member companies of the Underground Trenchless Technology Association – Gulf Coast Chapter (UCTA).  The employees must be members in good standing (i.e. dues are paid - current) as of the application deadline date and must have attended at least two sponsored meetings during the past 12 months, which can include: regular UCTA general membership meetings, seminars conducted with the University of Houston (CIGMAT) and UCTA, or the UCT conference.
  • Enrolled in full time post-graduate or undergraduate course study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. There are no restrictions for the field of study or degree program.

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted child or stepchild living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.

Selection Criteria:

The UCTA Board of Directors has reviewed and approved the following selection criteria and procedures to be used in the evaluation of the 2020 Scholarship Applications:

  • 20% - Cumulative GPA (based upon a 4.0 grading scale)
  • 20% - Classification (Grad or Senior=10 Junior=10 Sophomore=10 Freshman=5)
  • 60% - Discussion Paper

Application Procedures:

Applicants must complete the following requirements to be eligible:

  • Complete the electronic application in its entirety.
  • Write a discussion paper (two page maximum) covering the following topics:
  • Scholastic History & Information - schools attended, degree program, declared majors, hours completed, cumulative GPA, classification (at the start of the 2019 fall semester)
  • Career Goals
  • Extracurricular Activities
  • Honors & Awards
  • Employment Experience
  • Reason for Scholarship

*Note: The applicant’s name and personal information should only appear on the application and the discussion cover page or email.  Please do not make reference to the applicant’s or employee's name within the discussion paper.
